A new roundabout will improve the safety of the road linking the urban center of Puerto Lumbreras with El Esparragal and the Station (14/05/2019)

A new roundabout in Puerto Lumbreras will order traffic and improve road safety on the regional highway RM-D16 that joins the urban core of Puerto Lumbreras with the districts of El Esparragal and the Station.

This work will involve an investment of 232,000 euros by the Community and will be completed in two months.

It will have four branches, which will serve the Animal Disinfection Center and Livestock Market, the urban center of the municipality, a rural road and the districts of El Esparragal and the Port Station.

The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, and the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunis, accompanied by the director of work, today made a technical visit to the work, which will mean adequate regulation of traffic and positively affect the circulation of the vehicles that use the RM-D16, which reaches 4,930 vehicles a day, of which 315 are heavy.

Valverde explained that the action that is being carried out will replace the current intersection with a modern roundabout and "will facilitate adequate visibility and will imply a significant improvement in road safety for users of this regional route."

The infrastructure will have an external diameter of 36 meters and 20 inside.

The roadway will be formed by a six-meter lane, with a one-meter shoulder.

In the interior of the roundabout there will be a central island paved with a garden parterre.

The work will be completed with the signage, pavement and lighting of it.
