The Cultural Center of Puerto Lumbreras hosted this Saturday the XXIX National Folklore Festival which was attended by a large audience to enjoy the dances and folk songs of the Region of Murcia and Andalusia.
In this edition, the Festival counted with the participation of around 140 artists belonging to the Alcazaba de Almeria Folkloric Association and the "Cuesta de las Chinas" group from Huescar de Granada, who exhibited typical Andalusian dances such as the fandango, the sevillanas, the grille of Granada or the vito.
In addition, as every year, the Festival showed the typical dances of Puerto Lumbreras with traditional parrandas, malagueñas and jotas represented by the Group of Choirs and Dances Virgen del Rosario, which was joined by the group Virgen del Rosario de Alhama, both belonging to the Francisco Salzillo regional association.
The councilman of Culture, Juan Rubén Burrueco, explained that "the National Folklore Festival acquires greater relevance every year, and has already become one of the most important folkloric performances".
The Folklore Festival is part of the summer program 'Nogalte Cultural' which offers leisure activities, culture, tourism and sports during the months of July and August.
Thus, it began with a parade starting at 8:30 p.m. from the placeta (Banco Sabadell) to Calle Mayor on Calle Lorca, Orfeón Fernández Caballero, Mably street and Nuestra Señora del Rosario to the church square, where it took place the official welcome to the groups and the exchange of gifts, before the festival that started at 22:00 in the Cultural Center.
The group of Choirs and Dances Virgen del Rosario organized the Festival that has already become a tradition in Puerto Lumbreras.
Thus, the folkloric group was constituted in the year 1980, and at the moment they compose more than 40 people, between members of the rondalla and the body of dance.
His work focuses on the conservation, rescue and dissemination of music, dance and traditional costumes of this town.
The Lumbrerense group has participated in National and International Festivals, taking the Folklore to other countries such as Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Turkey, Romania and France.
