The regional government will invest about 700,000 euros to repair different rural roads in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras with jobs that will be developed over the coming months.

This was announced by the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo, after having a work meeting with the mayor of the town, María Ángeles Tunisia, and traveling the Cemetery Road, seriously damaged by heavy rains last September.

"We are committed to the arrangement of rural roads, routes of special importance for the municipalities of the Region, to ensure the circulation and access to rural areas," said Luengo.

Specifically, the aforementioned Cemetery Road project has already been approved, which has an investment of 500,000 euros to repair the large damages caused by the dana and will be tendered next February.

To this action is added the replacement of the firm on the Camino de Los Abades, with a budget close to 160,000 euros and whose contracting process will begin, predictably, in the month of March.

This road was already repaired last March, but given the neighborhood demands and the increase in the traffic it supports, the placement of a new asphalt layer will be undertaken.

In addition, a new call will be resolved next January that includes various actions to improve the roads of Los Nopales, Cañada de Ala, Goñar and Los Carrascos.

The counselor also informed that during 2019, 11 courses integrated in the Training Plan for farmers and ranchers have been taught in Puerto Lumbreras, which have had an investment of more than 26,000 euros by the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Environment.

In them, for a total of 235 hours, the Integrated Center for Vocational Agricultural and Livestock Training of Lorca has trained 216 students.

The project for the installation of a photovoltaic plant in the Puerto Lumbreras sewage plant with a power of 50 Kw and an investment exceeding 115,000 euros, to be executed by ESAMUR and which will reduce more than 42 tons of emissions from CO2 per year.

After this visit, the counselor Antonio Luengo, accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, visited a goat farm in the county of El Esparragal-La Estación, as well as the irrigation facilities of the Irrigation Community of Puerto Lumbreras in the county council of Puerto Adentro
