Puerto Lumbreras presents a program of activities to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (15/11/2016)

Workshops, flash movie, conferences, solidarity march and sticker design contest are some of the activities that include the program against gender violence.

The Mayor has encouraged all citizens, men and women, to participate in these solidarity activities to combat gender violence.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Equality and in collaboration with women's associations, has designed a schedule of activities to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women under the slogan 'I love being a woman' .

This morning, the mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, accompanied by the Councilor for Equality of Opportunities, Sonia López, representatives of the Association of Women Friends Without Borders and the Women's Association of the Women's Center have presented the new program of activities Which will be held during the month of November.

In this regard, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that "we launched a new campaign of awareness and awareness to support people who have been affected by this problem and to continue promoting education in values Of equality ".

In addition, the Mayor has continued to point out that "we have developed a program with activities aimed at all sectors of the population."

The program will begin next Monday, November 21 at 5:00 p.m. with the activity "video forum + café" at the Women's Center, where the documentary "Mamá duermete, que yo vigilo" will be screened.

Next, the workshop "Educating our children from gender equality" will be developed, aimed at parents with children under 12 years of age.

This last activity will be held every Monday, except public holidays, until March 2017.

The program of activities also includes talks entitled "Equal relations" aimed at young people.

This talk program will take place at the IES Rambla de Nogalte on 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 November.

Continuing with the programming, on Tuesday 22 November will be held the workshop "Family togetherness in equality", taught by the PAE-CAVI psychologist of Puerto Lumbreras and addressed to all audiences.

This activity will be held from 9.30 to 11.30 at the Women's Center (it will be held at the same time every Tuesday until March 2017).

The day of Tuesday will end with a masterclass of spinning and a self-defense class in charge of the female boxer Mª Carmen Romero in the Multipurpose Pavilion of La Estación-El Esparragal, starting at 8:15 p.m.

On the other hand, the program includes storytellers directed to the youngest of the locality with the title "Mama is sad: story for the coexistence" of the writer Mª Teresa Carter.

Thus, the storytellers will be held on Thursday, November 24 at 5:00 pm in the Municipal Library and Thursday, December 1 at the Library of the Station-Esparragal, also at 5:00 p.m.

In addition, on November 24 at 20.30 a masterclass of kundalini yoga will be held at the Women's Center.

The most outstanding day will be November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

In the morning, activities will be carried out in collaboration with the IES Rambla de Nogalte.

Thus, a flash-movie is planned with the students, reading of manifest, release of balloons, photocall and prize-giving of the competition of drawing of stickers.

On that same day, starting at 6:00 p.m., a concentration will be held at the Women's Center, where tees, plates and ties will be distributed.

Next, the attendees will carry out a solidarity march carrying banners to the pedestrian walkway, where they will read a manifesto against gender violence.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the program "I love being a woman" includes an awareness campaign against abuse, which consists of the distribution of information and placement of banners in visible places of the locality.
