The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with the Local Police, Civil Protection, Ambulancias de Lorca and the San Nicolás Training Center of Cartagena, has organized a road safety conference at the Rambla Institute of Nogalte under the motto "Road Safety, everyone's task".

In particular, the conference is aimed at more than 200 young people with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of preventing accidents.

The sessions have an approximate hour and are aimed at students of ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training.

In these workshops students acquire knowledge about the consequences of traffic accidents, how alcohol and drugs affect driving, seat belt use, bicycle circulation and the importance of the helmet on the moped, among others.

Similarly, the conference also includes first aid workshops to be taught starting next week.

In these sessions, the students will know the technique of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), control of hemorrhages, immobilizations and what must be done before an injury accident.

On the other hand, the practical part of the conference will be held next March 2.

The activity will have first aid practices with ambulance, rescue of injured and use of extinguishers with vehicle of intervention of Civil Protection.

In addition, students will learn to make accident signs, write a friendly part and perform breathalyser tests with the Local Police vans box.

To end the practical day, students will be introduced to a rollover simulator, which is used to raise awareness of the importance of wearing a seat belt.

The Councilor for Citizen Security, Dolores Arenas, stressed that "we launch these days, which were already held last year, because of the great acceptance they had among young people and the importance of educating students in the area of road safety".

Finally, Arenas wanted to thank all the groups and people who have collaborated in the organization of this initiative.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that, in the coming months, road safety campaigns will be carried out in public schools and day care centers in the municipality so that the children know the main rules of road safety and how to prevent accidents.
