The City Council grants a subsidy of 27,000 euros to the Cabildo de Cofradías to promote Holy Week lumbrerense (20/03/2017)

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, and the president of the Cabildo of Brotherhood Pasionarias have signed a collaboration agreement to promote Holy Week in the municipality.

Through this agreement, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras provides its institutional and financial collaboration to the Cabildo de Cofradías to organize and carry out processions and other activities related to Holy Week 2017, granting a grant of 27,000 euros from the municipal budget of 2017.

"With the signing of this agreement, we collaborate in the development of the Holy Week events through the granting of important economic aid in order to promote and promote one of the most ingrained traditions of the municipality," explained Mª Ángeles Tunisia.

The Cabildo Brotherhood Easter Passionaries of Puerto Lumbreras is an entity born with the primary purpose of organizing the processions and religious acts proper to Holy Week of the municipality, managing, for this purpose, economic resources.

For this, the Cabildo de Cofradías makes an equitable distribution of the subsidy to the three guilds of the municipality: the Old and Venerable Brotherhood of the Stma.

Virgin of Sorrows, the Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood of the St.

Christ of Faith and Mary Stma.

Of the Piety, and the Brotherhood Ntro.

Father Jesús Nazareno and María Stma de la Esperanza.

The mayor recalled that this year has launched a campaign to disseminate Holy Week lumbrerense under the motto "Ven y conócela", which was presented at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR).

The Holy Week of Puerto Lumbreras has eight processions, one of its peculiarities being the meeting of saetas in which singers of the flamenco world of great level like Curro Piñana, Rocío Segura or Beni de Córdoba participate every year.

To conclude, Tunisia has emphasized that "Holy Week of Puerto Lumbreras is one of our main signs of identity, as well as one of the most outstanding tourism products of the local heritage."
