The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has modified the tax ordinance regulating the rate for the provision of services in the Livestock Market.
Specifically, the amendment includes the elimination of some fees that had to previously pay the livestock farmers as the entrance of vehicles of transport of animals.
Thus, cattle breeders attending the Equine Livestock Fair held this weekend in Puerto Lumbreras will not have to pay for the access of live animals transport vehicles, which ranged between € 3.00 / day Vehicles of less than 1,000kgs and 5.00 € / day of vehicles of 3,500kgs or more.
In addition, farmers no longer have to pay for the entrance of equine cattle to the fair that until now was € 1.00 per animal.
"In 2015 we lowered the amount of the taxes to benefit the farmers and now we eliminate most of them with the aim of further encouraging the use of this public service and promoting the two annual fairs of equine cattle that are celebrated in our municipality "Explained the Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock, Water and Pedanias, José María Parra.
On the other hand, the modification of the municipal ordinance maintains the tariff for the entry of passenger cars inside the premises (1 euro per day) and the tariff for use of the stables during the fair (6.00 euros per small block and 12 Euros for the use of the large stables).
Equine Cattle Fair
This weekend Puerto Lumbreras hosts a new edition of Equine Cattle Fair, which is expected to gather more than 400 specimens in an enclosure with more than 20,000 square meters.
The fair will open its doors on Saturday 29 April at 08.00 hours and will be open uninterrupted until 20.00 hours.
On Sunday April 30 will also be open to the public from 08.00 to 20.00 hours.
With this Equine Cattle Fair, traditionally known as 'the big fair', Puerto Lumbreras becomes one of the first municipalities to open the Spanish fairs, being also one of the last to close them with the fair that is celebrated in the month of December .
It is one of the oldest competitions of the country that gathers farmers from different parts of the region and bordering provinces to buy and sell asal, mular and horses.
During the Fair, hundreds of people of all ages will visit the exhibition of animals of these races.
In addition, the Fair will also hold exhibitions of livestock material such as saddles or esparto works and other utensils related to the horse world.
Finally, it should be noted that artisans and traders who are installed in the Fair will also benefit from the elimination of the fee for exposure of livestock material in the interior of the Comarcal Market of Livestock.
