More than half a thousand people attended the second edition of the International Festival of Folklore held last night in the courtyard of the Cultural Center of Puerto Lumbreras.

In particular, the festival was attended by folk groups from Macedonia, India, Morocco, Bolivia and Spain.

Around 20.30 they made a parade with departure from the Plaza de la Constitución, until reaching the Plaza de la Iglesia, passing through the main streets of the town.

Then began the festival organized by the Coros y Danzas Virgen del Rosario group of Puerto Lumbreras, in collaboration with the City Council.

For almost two hours, folk groups performed typical dances, reflecting their culture, heritage and traditions.

The music and costumes recreated the authenticity of the style of each country and its different regions.

The Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Mª Victoria Jerez, stressed that "it was an attractive meeting point of different cultures of the world that did not leave anyone indifferent. A show in which colorful, cultural diversity, joy and The proximity of folklore ".

The representation of Spain in this festival was in charge of the group of Choruses and Dances Virgen del Rosario of Puerto Lumbreras.

From Macedonia came the aristocratic cultural society "Ilinden" founded in 1955. This group is one of the best and oldest folkloric associations of the country.

This art contains stylistic features of various folklore styles from Macedonia.

Music, dance and costumes create masterpieces of folklore on stage.

The performances are endowed with talent and skills for the presentation of folklore on stage.

A large number of young members (about 450 members) participate in the preservation of traditional Macedonian dances and music in different groups: the veteran group, two youth groups and various children's groups.

Another of the participating groups was the folkloric ballet of the Bolivian Catholic University.

It has numerous dances that represent the nine departments of Bolivia, with costumes and own choreographies.

The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Vice-Ministry of Cultures of Bolivia gave the group the "Honor to Cultural Merit" for their outstanding artistic activity.

Finally, the association of the Folk Art for Social and Tourist Development was born in Oujda, the eastern capital of Morocco.

Their most representative dance is called Reggada, which dates back to when the Rif warriors danced in victory over the enemy.

It is a constant beating of feet against the ground in time with music performed by several dancers led by a leader.
