The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, has scheduled a new project in Puerto Lumbreras, which is launched with the Plan of Exhibition Spaces of the Region of Murcia, which promotes regional art .
The opening ceremony was attended by fifty people, including the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Mª Victoria Jerez.
In particular, the exhibition brings together the works of the artist Pablo Portillo under the title 'In transit', a photographic project that is composed of numerous black and white images of old stations and travelers.
With this series of photographs, the artist intends to transmit "the need to move without going to any particular place" through a photographic, literary and film narrative.
According to Portillo "are images shown without criticism, without entering into value judgments, marked by a melancholic and contemplative tone, with great emotion."
After a life in contact with the landscape of Murcia, Almería, Granada and Albacete, the artist looked for old stations and places of filming of films.
The Councilor for Culture congratulated the artist and invited citizens to visit the House of the Goblins of Puerto Lumbreras to learn about the work of Pablo Portillo, which has scenarios as dock, bridges, tracks and train stations.
Mª Victoria Jerez pointed out that "her photographs are beautiful images that convey hope, expectations, memories, melancholy and adventure".
The exhibition will remain in the Centro Socio Cultural Casa de los Duendes until October 3.
Those interested in learning about their work can come Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In addition, it will also be available on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm.
Pablo Portillo
He is a photographer and graphic designer.
He began his studies in Architecture Superior in Madrid and of design and drawing in private academies.
Since 1982 he has been working as a graphic design professional with his own studio.
He carried out publicity work and made them compatible with his dedication to painting and photography, with numerous individual and collective exhibitions and contests.
He has been a jury member of competitions for graphic design, photography and posters.
