643 young people have enrolled in ESO, 150 in Bachillerato, 61 in Basic Vocational Training, 106 in Higher Education and 60 in Higher Education.
The classes at the Institute of Secondary Education Rambla de Nogalte of Puerto Lumbreras begin today.
More than 1,000 students will study at this center during the 2017/2018 academic year.
Last Friday, September 15, a welcome ceremony was held for the 156 students who, for the first time, started Compulsory Secondary Education.
In the day was present the mayor of the town, Mª Angeles Tunis, and the Councilor for Education, Sonia López.
In particular, 643 young people have enrolled in ESO (from 1 to 4), 150 in Bachillerato, 61 in Basic Vocational Training, 106 in Higher Education and 60 in Higher Education.
The center offers the possibility of attending Basic Professional Training (1st and 2nd) in Office, Electricity and Electronics.
For its part, the offer of Training Cycles includes Administrative Management (Medium Degree), Physical Activities in the natural environment (Middle Degree), and Business Administration (Higher Degree).
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, stressed that "this course has enrolled 1,020 young people, while in the past course there were 976, that is, 44 students more than last year, which is an increase of 4.51 percent".
The IES Rambla de Nogalte is adhered to the bilingual program and more than 200 students benefit from this educational modality in 1 °, 2 ° and 3 ° of ESO.
In addition, the institute has joined the Digital Centers Program and the "Connected Schools" program this year, which provides the center with ultra-fast broadband in order to make the communication network as effective as possible.
Adult Education Center
Today also begins the new course in the Adult Education Center "Alto Guadalentín" of Puerto Lumbreras.
The Center for Adult Education has an extensive training offer including preparatory courses for the graduate in ESO, for the test of access to higher-level training cycles and university, as well as language courses, new technologies and development of basic skills .
In addition, as a novelty this year also offers a Spanish course for foreigners.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia has emphasized that "it is a training offer with more than a dozen courses and that responds to a threefold motivation of citizens: to continue the training that in their day could not finish, to acquire the necessary knowledge at the time to look for work, and to develop cultural and social aspects as people ".
"The aim of adult education is to offer all adults the possibility of acquiring, updating or expanding their knowledge and skills for their personal and professional development, through formal and non-formal education," Tunisia added.
