Work to improve the cleaning and disinfection center for livestock vehicles will be completed before the end of the year
The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries is carrying out investments for a total amount of 390,961 euros in actions of improvement in the field of purification and sanitation in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Francisco Jodar, held today a meeting with the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, María Ángeles Tunisia, and his government team, to address the investments made by the Ministry in the municipality.
The meeting, which took place at Casa del Duende, addressed different issues related to water infrastructures, rural roads and projects being developed with Leader European funding, among others.
Regarding purification, the Ministry, through the Sanitation and Purification Entity of the Region of Murcia (ESAMUR), is carrying out actions for a value of 112,961 euros for projects such as the reform of the filtration system of the tertiary treatment of the station purification of the locality, actions of protection of the general collector and improvements in the station of fireman.
Likewise, the study of alternatives for a new treatment plant in Góñar is being drafted.
Regarding sanitation, the Ministry is executing a series of projects to improve the sanitation and purification network of Puerto Lumbreras that will allow new users to join the hydraulic system.
The supply actions are focused on improving the pipelines in the José Pérez street of the municipality, through the renovation of the supply of drinking water, for an approximate amount of 55,000 euros.
Regarding the improvement of the sanitation network, the planned actions contemplate the execution of an investment in new pipes of collectors, for an estimated global amount of 223,000 euros.
The investment includes the installation of 600 meters of sanitation pipes of 400 millimeters in diameter in the streets Camino del Tío Félix and Palmar, among others.
All these actions are framed in the II Plan of Sanitation and Depuration of the Region of Murcia, with which the Ministry intends to keep the Region as reference in debugging.
Disinfection center
Before the end of the year will conclude the works of reform of the Center for cleaning and disinfection of road transport vehicles in the livestock sector, located in the hamlet of El Esparragal.
The town has a large number of livestock farms that generate a large racking of vehicles by road.
The Community has collaborated with the City Council to improve this infrastructure with a grant of 30,000 euros.
"The vehicles dedicated to road transport in the livestock sector constitute an important link in livestock production and health, so it was convenient to carry out such actions," said the counselor, who also stressed that "health control animal happens to value in an integral way all the factors that can influence the appearance, development and dissemination of a disease or epizootic ".
Jódar also said that "the cleaning and disinfection of vehicles for transporting live animals, food products and animal by-products is vital for health control."
Leader projects
As for the investments of the Leader projects, the Minister stressed that "soon the call will be published to further enhance rural development in the area."
He recalled that in the previous one, projects worth 2.5 million euros were subsidized, in a total of 45 projects aimed at the public and private sectors, as well as training, focused mainly on creation and innovation in companies, in rural houses and infrastructures in public facilities.
Regarding road infrastructures, the counselor referred to the rural roads of Los Guevaras and Higueral Alto, which will be completely restored in the coming weeks, thanks to the work carried out by the Ministry, through the Rural Roads Plan of the Region of Murcia for the period 2014-2020.
A plan developed by direct Community investments co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
It is more than three kilometers of roads that will contribute to improving access to the agricultural and cattle ranches of the locality, one of the objectives of the regional government.
The total budget is 58,750 euros.
