The objective of the project is to promote physical activity and healthy eating among citizens, in order to fight sedentary lifestyle and prevent disease.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has launched the project "Active Health" to encourage the practice of physical activity and the acquisition of healthy habits among Lumbrerenses.
In this way, during the last weeks, theoretical-practical talks have been given to various groups, including children, adolescents, women and people over 65 years of age.
The objective of the project is to promote physical activity and healthy eating among citizens, in order to fight sedentary lifestyle, prevent diseases and reduce risk factors for heart disease.
Regarding the methodology of the project, it should be noted that in a first phase the participants have acquired the appropriate knowledge through talks given by a specialized technician.
Afterwards, the participants will determine how and in what way they will be able to improve their health with practical examples that they will carry out such as excursions, visits to sports facilities and healthy activities carried out in the municipality.
In this way, the project offers citizens different actions as an alternative to sedentary leisure activities, which currently occupy most of the free time of large numbers of people.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has created the Intersectoral Health Committee, composed of technical professionals who will work in a coordinated manner in the implementation of the local strategy of prevention and health promotion.
The 'Active Health' project is carried out through a grant granted by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces to the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, which is integrated into the Spanish Network of Healthy Cities.
The program has a budget of 2,980 euros, of which 1,344 euros are contributed by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and 1,636 euros are contributed by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
