The City Council presents an Agricultural Training Plan that will allow citizens to specialize in the primary sector (02/03/2018)

In total, more than 500 people can benefit from this training plan.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and the general director of Agriculture and Livestock, Francisco José González, accompanied by representatives of Coag-ir, Upa, Asaja and CIFEA-Lorca have presented this morning the new Agricultural Training Plan, which includes more than twenty training actions for professionals in the sector and unemployed people.

The presentation was made in the facilities of the agricultural company Alimer (Alimentos del Mediterráneo) of Puerto Lumbreras.

The training courses will start in March and will take place, in the afternoon, in different public spaces such as the Women's Center, the Library or the Offices of La Estación-Esparragal.

In addition, the practical part of some courses will be developed in the facilities of the Integrated Center of Training and Agricultural Experiences (CIFEA) of Lorca.

Specifically, the course schedule starts next week with a training action on olive oil tasting.

In the same month, there will also be a management course and maintenance of basic local irrigation systems and another olive pruning.

In the month of April, a course of basic bonsai care with a duration of 40 hours, an olive grafting course and another on incorporation to beekeeping (the bee and the hive) will be given.

In May, the plan offers training on citrus pruning and manipulator of phytosanitary products of qualified level with 60 hours of duration.

A basic level phytosanitary manipulator course will also be taught in the month of June.

Likewise, in June, first aid courses are planned for people linked to the agricultural sector and occupational hazards in the safe handling of the tractor.

In July, the course of occupational risks in safe handling of the tractor will be offered again, due to its high demand, and a training action on landscaping and garden design.

On the other hand, training initiatives on fruit pruning and almond pruning will be developed in August and September.

In the month of September, there will be an initiation action to the wine tasting and an almond graft course.

The training program also includes training related to organic farming during the month of October.

Finally, in November there are courses on biocides, palm pruning and animal welfare in pigs.

In total, more than 500 people can benefit from this training plan, which will allow citizens to specialize in various areas related to the primary sector.

The mayor stressed that "the agricultural sector of the municipality is today a key part of the Lumbrerense economy.Agriculture and livestock occupy a fundamental place, being the main engines of job creation in our town. our efforts in the professionalization of the sector and in the continuous training of unemployed people who can find a new opportunity in agriculture and livestock. "
