Puerto Lumbreras participate in the European project with municipalities in other countries such as Italy, Croatia, France and Austria.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras in the European part PARK (European Protected Areas Netowork) which aims to create a European Network of Municipalities to promote the revitalization of public parks, green areas and protected areas, "to encourage the development and sustainable environment. "

Specifically, through the PARK project aims to create a network of European municipalities to work in the field of environment and development sosnible through the management of parks, green spaces and natural areas.

This will create a framework for discussion at European level to improve the management and enhancement of public parks and green spaces in European cities.

Moreover, what this project aims to "create an association able to develop, share and delve on issues relating to the management of protected areas in Europe."

This is planned to organize forums for discussion, research and analysis as well as guided tours of parts of Europe to create common strategies to protect the ecosystems in parks and green areas.

Thus, the European project is divided into 4 large blocks of work are distributed in 'parks, environment and territory', 'Parks, economy and tourism', 'Parks, culture and traditions' and' Management Models the parks'.

In this sense, the Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, explained that "this EU project will continue working in the environmental as we have been doing in recent years through the Strategic Plan Ecopuerto 2008 - 2012 which includes more than 150 concrete that promote sustainable development.
