Amalia Gomez offers a conference aimed at groups of older people in the new Day Centre for older (24/04/2009)

Attended by more than a hundred lumbrerenses the paper that have addressed issues related to social policy in older people in conjunction with the open house the new Center for Puerto Lumbreras Day

The former general secretary of Social Affairs, Amalia Gomez, accompanied by Vice President Regional Assembly, Belén Fernández Delgado, gave a presentation on social policy for older people who have attended more than one hundred lumbrerenses.

Pedro Antonio Sanchez, Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, was also present at this meeting along with representatives of the Association of Senior Citizens, Senior Sectoral Council of Puerto Lumbreras and different pensioner households.

The paper, which have dealt with various aspects of social policy aimed at people with some degree of dependence has been developed in conjunction with the open house the new Center for Puerto Lumbreras day before his inauguration.

"This intervention in the new Day Centre Puerto Lumbreras is the proof that the elderly are integrated into the community to which they belong.

The open house shows the quality of new public facilities for the care of dependent people, "stressed the former general secretary of Social Affairs, Amalia Gomez.

During his career, Amalia Gomez has won several awards like the 'Solidarity Award' at the School of Social Work at the University of Murcia in 1999 and the gold medal of the Red Cross in 2000.

In the paper, Gomez has been exposed to over a hundred performances lumbrerenses major social policy being developed for older people.

In addition, Gomez explained the services offered to help these people, and particularly through public facilities such as the new Day Centre Puerto Lumbreras.

The new Day Care Centre has an auditorium, cafeteria, dining room, kitchen and occupational therapy room.

It also includes a gerontogimnasia room of 50 square meters, medical and nursing care in order to meet basic personal needs, therapeutic and socio-cultural older people affected by different degrees of dependence.
