The lumbrerense José M ª Huertano Parra is distinguished as the Year 2009 (26/04/2009)

The event recognized the work and career of Councillor for Rural Development, Jose Maria Parra, representing the huertanos in 2009

Puerto Lumbreras has been the town honored this year by the Association of Friends of the Museo de la Huerta Sewer through the appointment of Jose Maria Parra, Councillor for Rural Development, as Huertano of the Year 2009 on the occasion of the events at the Museum Day de la Huerta in Sewell.

"For Puerto Lumbreras has been an honor to be honored by the town Friends of the Museum Association of Sewer Huerta in 2009.

Born January 2, 1952 in Puerto Lumbreras, Parra's life has always been linked to agriculture, livestock and water.

Son of farmers, very young began to assist in the work laborers, and since 2003 is Councillor for Rural Development in the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.

I've always been involved in agricultural work and cattle, and my roots are in the garden.

I think it is essential to preserve the traditions, customs, history and identity of the Region of Murcia facilitating the new generations do not forget where our roots are, with these words Huertano qualified the Year, José María Parra, the release of this distinction.

Day events at the Museum of the Huerta, organized this year by the Association of Friends of the Museum of the Huerta and the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, have had many activities in honor of the Museum and the Orchard.

The day began with the traditional Mass orchard that has taken place in the Hermitage Our Lady of Health Sewell, and have subsequently begun Sewer folkloric representations and Puerto Lumbreras.

More than 200 citizens attended Sewer lumbrerenses to celebrate and assist in the day when the garden has been honored by the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.

Besides acting folk Esparragal the Gang, the Chorus and Dance Group Virgen del Rosario, member of the Regional Association Salzillo Francisco, has also played some of the dances in the garden that are constituted as a tradition more huerta rooted in Puerto Lumbreras.

The group, which began in 1980 and currently has over 40 members, power conservation, rescue and promotion of music, dance and traditional costumes of the garden in Puerto Lumbreras.

"Tributes like this allow all Murcia know the work and effort of our people, their way of life and what it is like the history of the Region of Murcia.

Puerto Lumbreras orchard has a deeply rooted tradition that has definitely helped in the development and progress of this county, "concluded the mayor lumbrerense.
