More than 200 people participated in the campaign "Meet the Stars' which has prompted the City (28/07/2009)

The session was launched during the July night visits at the Astronomical Observatory of Cabezo de la Jara where more than 200 people have made various tours and activities related to astronomy.

The City Council has extended the program that is celebrating the International Year of Astronomy during the months of August and September.

The next August 12 will celebrate the 'Rain of Stars, which concentrate many citizens in the municipality where the Youth Hostel will be an observation of the different constellations.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Tourism, has launched throughout the month of July, the campaign 'Meet the Stars' to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy and promote numerous initiatives through the Astronomical Observatory Cabezo de la Jara.

The campaign, which included activities such as guided tours, lectures and seminars outside in which more than 200 people, will run during the months of August and September.

According to the Tourism Councillor, David Piñero Gines, "for every Wednesday and Saturday of July, we completed the groups that have participated in the Meet the Stars Campaign.

Coinciding with the celebration of International Year of Astronomy, from the council will extend the program "Meet the Stars' to provide citizens with an alternative during the summer months, increasing the activity through the Astronomical Observatory Cabezo de la Jara in Puerto Lumbreras ".

The program 'Meet the Stars' will include free tours every Wednesday and Saturday of August and September from 22.00.

The initiative has an outdoor lecture that explains the basics of astronomy, we see the moon and various stars through the telescope of the Astronomical Observatory of Cabezo de la Jara.

The program includes a special day on 12 August with the 'Rain of Stars'.
