The City Council formalized a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Social Policy (24/04/2010)

The new public facilities will open and begin service next May

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras conclude a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration, through the Instituto Murciano Social Action, which gives 168,000 euros to launch new services day center for seniors.

The new public facility, which will open next May, includes a variety of specialized services and intervention programs for seniors.

"Since the City Council and in collaboration with the Regional Government are committed to providing support to the elderly.

The new Day Centre for older people includes new services hitherto non-existent in the municipality, which will improve the quality of life for elderly and Alzheimer patients, "explained the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.

Specifically, among the basic services provided by the Centre, care include assistance in daily living activities of older people and accessible transport service.

In addition, provide specialized services such as prevention, counseling and guidance for the promotion of autonomy, social care and rehabilitation care service and personal development, psychology, occupational therapy, physical rehabilitation and maintenance programs for mental capacity and memory.

On the other hand, the equipment will provide individual intervention programs based on each person, with training to improve self-care skills, establishment of hygiene, cultural and recreational activities and service information to family-related needs psycho-physical user.

"To this end, the center will have qualified as nurses, psychologists, social workers or occupational therapists in order to meet the needs of dependent people staying during the day," Sanchez said.

The infrastructure will initially have 28 beds for dependent elderly people and 13 people with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

In addition, the center will remain open 40 hours a week from 9.00 to 18.30 and includes in its infrastructure an assembly hall, kitchen, an occupational therapy room and a room gerontogimnasia.
