The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, along with Councillor for Rural Development, José María Parra, has opened the traditional Fair of horses that develops in the town over the weekend.
Lumbrerense Fair ranks as one of the oldest games in Spain and in the 2010 edition with the participation of more than 400 animals that are exposed at a facility of 20,000 meters located in the Cattle Market District, a mile of town towards the hamlet of Esparragal.
"Every year we celebrate two events of horses, donkeys and mules, and other fairs.
This Horse Fair, known as 'big show', Puerto Lumbreras is the first municipality to open Spanish fairs in May and the first place to move thousands of people interested in livestock, "said the mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez .
Equine Cattle Fair in Puerto Lumbreras has a tradition of nearly 80 years, and each year the number of participants coming from various parts of the Region of Murcia and the rest of the country.
Nearly five hundred people attended the opening of the fair in which, in addition to buying and selling livestock, you can also find the tools farmers and animals requiring care.
In this regard, Sanchez pointed out that "Cattle Fair Equine Puerto Lumbreras has been hailed as one of the most important meetings for all farmers in the southeast and every year we welcomed the participation of a greater number of farmers in different positions of Spain. "
In this edition, also include exhibitions of cattle material as saddles, carriages or esparto work to encourage and promote craftsmanship cattle among the thousands of people who come to this meeting.
La Feria de Puerto Lumbreras is devoted year after year and has already become a key event not only for farmers but also for other interested persons.
In addition to the livestock exhibits, the City of Puerto Lumbreras has enabled a track that will be exhibited throughout the equine weekend.
