The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, accompanied by Mayor Pedro Antonio Sánchez, opened this morning in Puerto Lumbreras Day Care Center, with capacity for 41 seats, and has received funding of € 1,459,841 for the Community.
The ownership is local and the service was awarded to the Senior Residence District.
The new center, built next to the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, on a plot of 800 square meters, on loan from the City, has two floors.
The floor is dedicated to the care of dependents, with media for 28 users, and the first, prepared to care for seniors with Alzheimer's and other dementias, capable for 13 seats.
Currently, there are 13 seats occupied, while the Instituto Murciano Social Action plans to soon hire 20, amounting to 168,000 euros.
In addition, the building has an auditorium, cafeteria, dining room, occupational therapy, gerontogimnasia room, treatment room and bathrooms elderly.
The center's goal is to assist and care for seniors who need the service day stays as a real alternative to residential housing and institutionalization, thereby alleviating the burdens of caring for dependents to the household.
In its dependencies are offered services related to basic personal needs and socio-therapeutic and the more affected by different degrees of dependence.
With this infrastructure is solved also the problem of health, environmental and aesthetic, which involved the raft Water Company in the city center.
The center, which will remain open Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 18:30, provides users with services such as accessible transportation, breakfast, lunch and snack, prevention, counseling and guidance to promote independence, attention social and rehabilitation.
Service can also receive care and personal development, psychology, occupational therapy, functional rehabilitation, maintenance programs in mental ability and memory, and individual interventions based on each person.
In addition, it provides training to improve self-care skills, hygiene, cultural and recreational activities, hairdressing and podiatry.
The opening ceremony, besides the mentioned personalities, attended by the secretary general of the Ministry, Fernando Mateo, the managing director of IMAS, Isabel Sola, along with other general managers of different departments, the director of the Center for Day, Veronica Vidal, and the resort manager, Alfonso Perez Sanchez.
