The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras works with the Department of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia in the development of an awareness campaign on responsible consumption in which more than 300 schools in the municipality.
The Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, along with the general director of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control, Francisco Espejo, has participated this morning in the campaign that aims to help the environment through responsible consumption.
"Puerto Lumbreras's commitment to the environment extends to all possible areas of action. With this awareness campaign to promote responsible consumption through knowledge of the European Eco-label awarded to products which guarantee a high level of protection environment, "said the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
To give the European Eco-label products that guarantee a high level of environmental protection, previously evaluated the environmental effects of each product throughout its life cycle, both in raw material consumption, such as production, distribution, use and waste.
Specifically, the campaign has been developed on the occasion of World Environment Day, aims to change the habits of young consumers to choose eco-labeled products, as "the distinctive flower that appears on this label guarantees that the product complies strict quality criteria, such as using less dangerous chemicals and less energy, "says the general director of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control Francisco Espejo.
During the day, specialized instructors have given talks on the European Ecolabel and responsible consumption of more than 300 schools in 4 and 5 of the four primary schools in the municipality.
The campaign has included a variety of educational games related to environmental compliance, including a Gymkana emphasized educational activities on the environment, which ended with the distribution of diplomas and gifts among the students.
In addition to these outreach activities, in primary schools will be organized a short story competition and in the secondary, another contest for the creation of a campaign on responsible consumption.
Both events will culminate in October, when the European Eco-label, with a major exhibition and awards to winning schools.
