The new equipment contributes to the enhancement of the natural heritage of the municipality through the interpretation of the different elements of their natural environment as flora, fauna and landscapes.
Besides the construction of the new Interpretation Centre of Nature, the council and the General Directorate of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity with Social Work from La Caixa, has developed a variety of environmental adaptation works in the municipality which involves an investment of € 255,000.
The town of Puerto Lumbreras has a new Center for the Interpretation of Nature in the vicinity of Cabezo la Jara.
The Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, accompanied by the director general of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernandez and business area director of La Caixa in Lorca, Eugenio José Ruiz Martínez, inaugurated this morning the new facilities to help boost and spread the natural heritage of the municipality through the interpretation of the different elements of their environment.
"The new Center for Interpretation of the Nature of Puerto Lumbreras offer visitors information about the different natural areas of the city among which the Cabezo la Jara, who has been proposed as a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and will part of the European Network of Natural Areas: Natura 2000 network, "said the mayor of the municipality, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
The facility has about 200 square meters which is located a reception, an audiovisual room, and a permanent exhibition area is divided into five thematic groups: flora, fauna, landscapes, human and natural environment.
Specifically, the area dedicated to natural area natural enclaves are described as the head of the Jara, the Rambla de Nogalte and nature trails are there in the municipality.
This space contains a selection of fossils and minerals from the area, and incorporates a video monitor that will address various aspects of the countryside through a variety of audiovisual products.
On the other hand, a light panel exposes the generic aspects of the landscape, and also list the various aromas that helps to interpret the flora.
Also in the exhibition area with regard to 'Animals', the protagonist is the tortoise, while the space devoted to "Human Being" describes the early settlement, farming, industry and water use on site.
In this regard, Sanchez has said "The new facility serves to inform and guide the public on their visits to natural areas of the municipality, allowing interact through various communication tools and educational exhibitions, audiovisual presentations and publications."
Environmental adaptation of environment Cabezo de la Jara
Besides the construction of the new Interpretation Centre of Nature, the council and the General Directorate of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity with Social Work from La Caixa, has developed a variety of environmental adaptation works in the vicinity of Cabezo de la Jara.
All the work has involved an investment of 255,000 euros financed by the Obra Social La Caixa, and generating a total of 1,500 wage work, some of which were for people at risk of social exclusion.

Among the actions have been carried out reforestation activities, both on the mountain and around the youth hostel, is building a trail and are installing informational and interpretive elements that highlight the natural values of the place along the new path.
Finally, they stress the environmental improvement works carried out on the Rambla de Vilerda, located in the catchment area of the Rambla de Nogalte.
According to Fernandez, these works "will help to reduce the effects caused by torrential phenomena, reducing the drag of aggregates and erosion along streams and gullies."
He added that "this action is encouraged to strengthen the dynamic equilibrium regulating vegetation and water resources in the area by regulating the runoff, while the channels are stabilized."
