A group of 15 women participate in this initiative that opens its exhibition on Friday, May 4 at the Casa de los Duendes Cultural Center in Puerto Lumbreras.
Monday, May 30, 2018 It began as an initiative of a small group of women who felt the need to pay homage to their mothers and, in the short period of three months, a total of 15 Lumbrerenses will participate in it.
This is "TO MY MOTHER, a tribute to the women who gave us life", a collective project open to citizen participation that aims to recognize and give visibility to the Lumbrerense mother figure.
The different work meetings carried out by its participants during the last months will see its fruits next Friday, May 4 at the Casa de los Duendes Cultural Center at 8:30 p.m.
The event will begin with the presentation of the project and some personal tributes, followed by the opening of the exhibition.
The pieces that compose it are, for the most part, photographs accompanied by writings or poems.
These include drawings, embroidery, clothing and objects, all related to the mothers of the participants and the time they lived, as well as some live interventions.
The Councilor for Culture, María Victoria Jerez, thanked the involvement of this group of women and explained that "they have created a common history to honor the mother figure, their work, their efforts, achievements and family dedication, as well as to value the importance of its role in the education of children and, therefore, in society in general. "
A fundamental role of women in this sense, point out from the collective AMM, as a transmitter of knowledge that passes from generation to generation and would otherwise be lost.
From the organization they have highlighted that "it has been a very laborious work, of many hours and meetings, that have enriched us a lot and that has been very emotional and satisfactory".
