The Autonomous Community, through the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, will carry out refurbishment works in the four public schools of Puerto Lumbreras.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, and the general director of Educational Centers, Mª Remedios Lajara, met this morning to analyze the start-up of the works, as well as other matters of local interest in education.
The directors of the four public schools and representatives of the Associations of Mothers and Parents of Students have also been present at the work day.
One of the main works to be carried out will be the construction of a roof on the sports track of the Asunción Jordán school with the aim of protecting schoolchildren from inclement weather.
The works will center in the realization of the metallic structure and cover, placing of metallic carpentry, works of painting in the structure, realization of electrical installations, as well as marked and painted of the sports tracks.
The roof will have an area of ​​836 square meters and will involve an investment of 66,727.81 euros.
In the same way, the shaded areas in the Sacred Heart School will also be increased with the construction of porches based on metal and textile structures in the kindergarten classrooms.
In addition, a metal fence of simple twisting will be placed on a perimeter wall to improve the safety of the center.
The mayor stressed that "with these actions will improve the educational facilities and significantly expand the shadow areas so that students and teachers can protect themselves from rain and high temperatures."
Likewise, painting and marking work will be carried out on the sports courts at the Juan Antonio López Alcaraz school and the Purísima Concepción school in La Estación-Esparragal.
