The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, attended today, together with the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, to commemorate the 8th Anniversary of the day center for the elderly 'Agustín Tárraga Ortega' and the presentation of the project of residence, and stressed that the Community finances with 803,000 euros services to a total of 109 elderly people of the municipality through the places arranged in the day center and home help.
Of the total budget, the day center of Puerto Lumbreras has 41 places arranged with the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS), which the Community finances with more than 406,000 euros.
Violante Tomás referred to the care offered at the center, which is managed by Recopema and has been in operation since 2010, which can be accessed by people who are dependent on the town.
The counselor thanked the mayor for her "commitment, since she is the promoter of the wide network of services and centers that the municipality currently has".
In addition, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is one of the three municipalities in the region that provides home help service for dependents, through an agreement signed with the IMAS in 2014. The home help service for people in situations of dependency is intended to meet the needs of daily life and increase their autonomy, enabling their permanence in it.
The actions of the service are related to the attention of the domestic or household needs: cleaning, washing, cooking or others.
The Ministry subsidizes with 396,872 euros this service, which is provided to a total of 68 people.
