Puerto Lumbreras will have a residence for the elderly, one of the most ambitious projects of the current government team that will be a reality in the coming months.
This was announced yesterday afternoon by the mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, together with the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás.
The municipality will have a residence of private ownership, so the expense of the investment that involves the construction of the residence will be assumed by the private company that will subsequently manage it.
The project, which aims to ensure the welfare of the elderly when they need specialized assistance, is located on a plot of 1,200 square meters on Tómbola street.
It will have three plants and will have a capacity for 94 users.
On the first floor common services such as reception, visiting room and waiting room will be enabled.
The second and third floors will be allocated to common rooms and rooms.
It should be noted that the residence will have places for permanent stay, weekend, family respite for breaks or holidays of the family member or caregiver, day, night and post-hospital recovery.
The mayor of the town has stressed that "the elderly can enjoy the best care with personalized care, at the same time they will have at their disposal a wide range of services and a multidisciplinary team of experts to achieve their well-being."
The new residence will be adapted to meet all levels of dependency and pathologies that affect the elderly.

Regarding the number of jobs, the mayor explained that "the new center will have a large team of professionals composed of social workers, physiotherapists, administrative, cleaning staff, psychologists and occupational therapists, among others, which will mean the creation of new jobs in the locality ".
Tunisia stressed that "we will strengthen the network of services provided to the elderly with the construction of this residence with capacity for about a hundred people."
On the other hand, during the act has been presented a guide of services for older people edited by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, which includes all the resources available to this group in the town Lumbrerense.
The guide is divided into eight blocks that include detailed information about services, centers, programs, grants, associations, resources, tips and telephone numbers of interest.
"With this publication we intend to inform, in a simple and accessible way, the elderly and their families of all the services offered by the Department of Social Policy with the aim of improving their quality of life," said the mayor during the ceremony.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia recalled that "helping the most vulnerable is one of our priorities, we have focused on social policies with the implementation of new programs, launching new services and creating infrastructures to meet the 2,600 best possible people over 65 who reside in Puerto Lumbreras. "
