The Cultural Center of Puerto Lumbreras has just hosted the presentation of two audiovisual projects that link the municipality with its history in the medieval period, although they do so from two very different genres: one from fiction and the other from documentary.
On the one hand, "Heroes of heritage" is an audiovisual project in which a universe of science fiction designed by the regional administration has been recreated to promote knowledge and appreciation of the heritage of the Region of Murcia by young people.
In its plot, the mitones, an alien race, aims to subdue humans in the XXXV century by altering their past.
Agents 'Heritage Heroes' are their last hope.
For this reason, they have two missions to fulfill, the first of them "Rey lobo y Nogalte", which takes place in the Middle Ages and in which Puerto Lumbreras is the protagonist of its stages.
It is a project involving the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Integra Foundation and Digital Heritage of the Region of Murcia.
At another extreme is "Nogalte: tierra de frontera", a documentary project of the Integra Foundation that presents one of the most interesting stages in the medieval history of Puerto Lumbreras from the mid-13th century to the 15th century.
A historical period in which Nogalte (now Puerto Lumbreras), with its castle and farmstead, were in full line between the Christian kingdoms of Castile and Aragon and the Nasrid kingdom of Granada.
With the intervention of specialists in History and Archeology, the fundamental role that Nogalte played in this late medieval era as a strategic point for the control of the territory and the communication routes, as a crossroads and as a place of exchange in the commercial routes that traversed this part of the peninsular southeast.
The councilor of Culture of Puerto Lumbreras, María Victoria Jerez, stressed that this is a very important job for the municipality because "it brings us closer to the historical reality that Nogalte lived in that time, recovering part of the history for the great Most of Lumbrerenses unknown, with spectacular images of the Castle and the old town, the latter settled in the space that once occupied the Islamic farmhouse at the foot of the hill topped by the fortification, showing that character of fronteros that will define for centuries its inhabitants , even the current ones ".
