The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has asked the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Region of Murcia to help with a project for the execution, expansion and improvement of 'Healthy Urban Routes' in the town.

With a total amount amounting to 9,734.01 euros, eligible for 7,300 euros, the initiative will allow during the next financial year the improvement of urban spaces that allow sports practice.

Specifically, this project focuses on the Reina Sofía municipal park, located on Calle La Verdad, in view of the need to improve traffic with pedestrian and user safety, as well as its accessibility and the general state of the park.

Within a period of three months, the project includes the installation of start and end signs of the route (indicating the total distance of the same), its facilities and sports facilities, as well as its rest areas.

In addition, the project aims to place a new area of ​​sports equipment with gymnastic devices for physical exercises by users.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Túnez, stressed the importance of "keeping our public spaces in the best conditions to make their use more pleasant, being a priority to adapt them to the different conditions and needs of its users".
