The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Angeles Túnez, and the Councilor for the Environment, Ángela Morillas, have just presented a wide program of activities that will take place during the month of June to celebrate the Month of the Environment.
A series of initiatives whose main objective is to raise awareness among Lumbrerenses of the need to recycle, to maintain clean natural spaces, as well as respect and care for animals.
The 'Festival of the Environment' will put the color note with which to start this program on Friday, June 1 at 7:00 pm at the Augusto Vels park with a musical show and a drawing contest.
The educational part will be very present in this program with a talk by technicians of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia under the title 'Exotic and invasive flora' in matter of flora and fauna of the region.
An activity aimed at students of the IES Rambla de Nogalte on Monday, June 4 at 10:30 am.
In the schools the project 'In YOUR park or in the MIO' will take place from June 5 to 8.
An initiative consisting of a series of revegetation workshops in parks of the municipality with students from the four schools in the town, including a visit to the Ecopark Mobile to different schools.
'My pets and I' means the continuity of awareness workshops held in local schools about the care of animals and the need to maintain cleanliness in public spaces.
Taking into account the great reception of this first initiative, on this occasion, and attending to neighborhood requests, the workshop will be open on Tuesday, June 12 in the auditorium of the Cultural Center at 7:00 p.m.
A date that will coincide with the workshop 'Recycling is something for everyone' at Colegio Purísima Concepción.
The companies will also be present at a meeting to raise awareness about the promotion of recycling among local businesses.
The event will take place at the Casa de los Duendes on Tuesday, June 12 at 4:00 p.m. and will include a coffee-talk given by ECOEMBES.
To conclude, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras appeals to all Lumbrerenses to participate in the campaign '1m2 by nature' of Libera, nature without garbage.
Thus, the town Lumbrerense is added as one of the 70 collection points throughout Spain thanks to the participation of committed local associations such as Silybum or Andaya.
The appointment will take place on Saturday, June 23, with a clean-up day at the Vilerda rambla at 9:00 a.m.
The mayor of the town has concluded that "with this program we intend to sensitize the population with care and respect for the environment, while motivating citizens to become active agents for sustainable development."
