The Plenary Session of the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will agree to name Adoptive Son of the city to Don Serafín Campoy Reinaldos, parish priest of the town since 2012. The distinction will be delivered on Saturday, July 7, at an institutional ceremony to mark the celebration of Independence Day of Puerto Lumbreras.
"Don Serafin is a humble, optimistic and kind person, who has managed to bring the values ​​of the Church to Lumbrerenses and leave a mark in their hearts" said the mayor of the municipality, Mª Ángeles Tunisia.
Serafín Campoy combines his pastoral work as a priest of the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Parish of Puerto Lumbreras with his work as a Canon Law professor at the Seminary of Murcia.
He is also the Prosecutor of the Second Chamber of the Ecclesiastical Court of the Diocese of Cartagena-Murcia and, lately, he has been working as a manager of a family agricultural company dedicated to the cultivation of organic almonds.
Campoy began his studies of EGB in the public school Virgen de las Huertas to continue his training as a Bachelor and COU at the Francisco Ros Giner Institute in Lorca.
Then, he did his vocational studies to obtain a degree in Ecclesiastical Studies, with outstanding qualification, at the Theological Institute of Murcia, dependent on the Pontifical University of Salamanca.
After finishing his studies in Spain, he moved to Rome where he graduated with Honors in Canon Law at the Gregorian University in Rome.
When closing his formation stage, he was ordained priest on November 14, 1999 in the Church of San Mateo in his hometown, Lorca, by Don Manuel Ureña Pastor.
He began his priestly ministry as Coadjutor of the Parish of San Miguel de Murcia.
He has also been chaplain of the Marist School of the Fuensanta of Murcia, chaplain of the Hospital of the Royal Mercy and parish priest of the Church of Santa María Magdalena de Cehegín.
