The Autonomous Community, through the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS), subsidizes with 89,146 euros to the City of Puerto Lumbreras to strengthen the early care service provided in the Comprehensive Center for People with Disabilities (CIPED) of the town.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, today signed a collaboration agreement for the maintenance of the center.

Specifically, 87 children under 6 years (36 in intervention and 51 in follow-up) will benefit from this aid that aims to respond to the temporary or permanent needs of children with disorders in their development or who have the risk of suffering them .

The stimulation in early attention is aimed at children with transitory or permanent therapeutic needs, originated by limitations, alterations in their development or presenting symptoms of suffering them.

The service provided at the municipality's early care center includes prevention and diagnosis programs;

therapeutic intervention, which includes sensory, motor and cognitive stimulation, as well as physiotherapy, speech therapy, hydrotherapy and family intervention;

activities aimed at families, including orientation, accompaniment, dynamization and training workshops.

The center is formed by an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, pedagogues, speech therapists and physiotherapists.

The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, stressed that "early attention is essential for the development of the child, thanks to this grant we received from the regional government, and the contribution of 15,731.65 euros that the city council makes, we can continue paying attention to children who have disorders in their development and continue to enhance their personal autonomy.

For her part, the counselor highlighted that "through the services of early attention not only intervenes but is also prevented." We not only talk about prevention in children at risk of suffering difficulties, but in the case of those who already they have established deficiencies, it allows the prevention of further deterioration and prevents them from presenting major alterations later ".
