'Recycle Glass and Pedal' is the campaign launched from Ecovidrio in collaboration with the City of Puerto Lumbreras during 'La Vuelta 2018' to raise awareness about the need to recycle glass containers.
An event that will take place in the locallidad lumbrerense next Sunday August 31 in its 7th stage.
Thus, both organizations today presented the installation of five vinyl containers with the image 'Recila cristal y pedalea' in the lumbrerenses streets, sensitizing on the care of the environment and the possibilities of extending the life cycle of this inorganic material.
Among them is Avenida Pedro García Rubio and Región de Murcia, and Rigoberta Menchú and Enrique Granados streets.
This action will be visible thanks to the elaboration of a sustainable trophy that will be designed by Ecovidrio with the glass containers contributed by the neighbors of Puerto Lumbreras, and that will be received by a local authority after the stage of 'La Vuelta' in this locality
As a curiosity, note that the trophy will have the shape of the profile of the stage that will run from the local Lumbrerense to Pozo Alcón in a 182-kilometer route.
As the councilor for the Environment, Ángela Morillas, affirmed, it is a "great initiative that comes to contribute with the positive data of recycling on the part of the Lumbrernses".
And, according to data provided by Ecovidrio, the citizens of Puerto Lumbreras recycled in 2017 a total of 277,120 kilograms of glass, which translates into 18.5 kilograms of average per inhabitant.
7A data that is possible thanks to the containerization rate, with an average of 131 inhabitants per container, currently with a total of 115 igloos for glass container waste in the municipality.
