The Department of Parks and Gardens of the City of Puerto Lumbreras is developing a plan to prune palm trees with which it is intended to contribute to the beautification of the municipality.
The actions, which have already begun, will be extended over the next few days by the different areas of the town and will eliminate the damaged leaves respecting the natural shape of the palms.
In addition, the workers are carrying out phytosanitary treatments to the more than 300 specimens that are distributed in the municipality and districts to avoid the appearance of the red palm weevil.
The councilman of Parks and Gardens, Juan Rubén Burrueco, explained that "in addition to aesthetic issues, these tasks are carried out preventively to prevent the spread of pests and improve safety conditions for pedestrians and drivers."
The works are being developed by professionals who have the necessary knowledge and adequate security measures to perform these tasks.
"The Department develops an important work throughout the year that aims to care for and improve permanently all public spaces and green areas of Puerto Lumbreras," concluded Burrueco.
