The renewal of the road surface is being carried out in a sustainable manner with a recycling system for asphalt
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel del Amor, visited this morning the rural road of Vera to monitor the state in which the works are located.
In particular, the improvement and conditioning works focus on the recycling of the firm, previous clearing of the margins and cleaning of gutters.
Both for the correction of road inequalities and to protect the new rolling layer, reinforcement of the margins has been carried out with artificial gravel.
The renewal of the road surface is being carried out in a sustainable manner with an asphalt recycling system.
It is a technique that uses the asphalt exhausted by wear, which will be crushed and mixed with cement to be later incorporated into the new road and thus improve its structural stability.
Miguel Ángel del Amor learned about the refurbishment works and stressed that "with this technology, the CO2 emission is reduced, the contribution of materials is minimized, public money is optimized and with the addition of cement, the road is prepared to improve the transit capacity for agricultural vehicles ".
On the other hand, the project has also contemplated the application of curing irrigation to allow the correct setting of the firm recycled, the localized application of herbicide on the margins, the installation of new cross-drainage and salvage steps, the replacement or reinforcement of vertical signage and the enabling of new horizontal signage, with continuous and discontinuous lines with white reflective paint.
In some localized areas, where water accumulates, the grade will be corrected promptly.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, said that "the objective of this action is to facilitate access to agricultural and livestock farms, as well as promote communications in rural areas."
It should be noted that the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras requested the Autonomous Community to prepare this road in the 2016 call.
The council is investing 204,000 euros in the execution of 5,478 meters of rural roads in three different actions in the Camino de Vera, Camino de los Abades and Camino de los Pérez.
These actions are co-financed through Feader with 63 percent, by funds from the Region of Murcia with 25.9 percent and by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food by 11.1 percent.
Tunisia thanked the counselor "to take into account the needs of Lumbrerenses and allow rural areas to be equipped with the best infrastructure so that there is more security and adequate access to farms."
The mayor stressed that "the agricultural sector is the main economic engine of Puerto Lumbreras, so it is important to place special emphasis on the arrangement of these roads."
Before finalizing the visit to the municipality, the counselor and the mayor have met with the representatives of the Community of Irrigators of Puerto Lumbreras to listen to their proposals and meet their needs.
