The seventh stage of the Vuelta Ciclista a España will begin in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras next Friday, August 31.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, has been satisfied "for hosting one of the most important cycling events on the international scene together with the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France".
The riders will make a neutralized urban route at 12:45 hours, before continuing their way to Pozo Alcón (Jaén) with a total distance of 163.5 kilometers.
The neutralized route will begin in the Murcia Region avenue and will continue by Almeria road, N-340, Almería Avenue, San Francisco Street, Ntra. Sra. De Rosario street and Doctor Salvador Caballero García avenue with 8.3 kilometers in total.
The launch will be at 13:02 hours, on the N-342 Almeria-Granada direction.
The mayor of the town has indicated that "the celebration of a sporting event of this magnitude promotes tourism and economic development in the municipality." La Vuelta is broadcast in 188 countries, which will undoubtedly generate an important promotion of our town "
Tunisia has pointed out that "La Vuelta 2018 is not only an event to promote sport, it is an exceptional platform to publicize our history, culture and heritage".
On Friday, August 31, starting at 10:00 am, the organization will open to the public the Fan Zone, located on Avenida Región Murciana.
The people who visit it, in addition to living closely cycling, can pedal in two professional bicycles and recreate a fragment of a historic stage of La Vuelta.
Each kilometer pedaled will be exchanged for a donation to the association Lumbrerense ADICA people with disabilities, thanks to the kilometers traveled by all participants.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia has encouraged citizens to get closer to the Fan Zone and has assured that "the assistants will have a pleasant time while collaborating in a good cause".
The public can experience a virtual reality and learn a little more about the history of the Team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA cycling team.
For the little ones there will be an interactive playground with raffles of jerseys and team shirts, glasses and much more.
The insurance company, Seguros RGA, is once again the insurer and official sponsor of La Vuelta.
This sponsorship also includes the sponsorship of the cycling team, Team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA that is present in the competition.
The Fan Zone has a solidarity component and houses the Bicycle Solidarity project, an initiative that has been taking place since 2013 in the different stages of La Vuelta.
