This morning, the seventh stage of the Vuelta a España, one of the most important cycling events on the international calendar, started from the Murcia Region avenue of Puerto Lumbreras.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Túnez, and the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, were present at the start.
The runners have made a neutralized urban route before continuing their way to Pozo Alcón (Jaén) with a total distance of 163.5 kilometers.
It is a level stage.
The port located at the end of the route will operate an important selection.
The normal thing is that less than a hundred runners come to the end with options to win the victory in a new ending to the sprint.
The mayor of the town has indicated that "the celebration of a sporting event of this magnitude promotes tourism and economic development in the municipality." La Vuelta is broadcast in 188 countries, which will undoubtedly generate an important promotion of our town "
Tunisia has assessed in a "very positive" way the presence of the Tour of Spain for the third time in the municipality, since "it serves to project and promote the peculiarities and attractiveness of our area."
It is an event with a great presence of media, more than 1,200 journalists and accredited photographers so that the spectators can enjoy all the details of the race.
The organization of this event involves the deployment of more than 700 accredited vehicles, 3,000 people who move with La Vuelta, 2,500 overnight stays for the organization and sports groups during the test.
At the security level, 140 civil guards and 80 National Police agents per stage will ensure the correct development of the test.
To this, local police officers and volunteers from the Civil Protection and Emergency Service are added.
Fan Zone solidaria
The people who have visited it, in addition to living closely cycling, have been able to pedal in two professional bicycles and recreate a fragment of a historical stage of La Vuelta.
Each kilometer pedaled is exchanged for a donation destined to the association lumbrerense of people with disability ADICA, thanks to the kilometers traveled by all the participants.
In addition, all attendees have been able to enjoy a virtual reality experience and learn a little more about the history of the Team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA cycling team.
For the little ones there is an interactive play area with draws for jerseys and team shirts, glasses and much more.
The insurance company, Seguros RGA, is once again the insurer and official sponsor of La Vuelta.
This sponsorship also includes the sponsorship of the cycling team, Team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA that is present in the competition.
The Fan Zone has a solidarity component and houses the Bicycle Solidarity project, an initiative that has been taking place since 2013 in the different stages of La Vuelta.
