The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, met this morning with the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, Mario Urrea, to address issues of local interest of competence of the agency.
In this first contact, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras has transferred to the president the needs of the municipality, among which include the execution of breakwaters in the Vilerda rambla or the reinforcement of the walls in the ravine of Nogalte.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia has indicated that "the City Council and the Segura Hydrographic Confederation work together to address new projects and investments in the municipality that are adapted to the current needs of the town in hydrographic matters."
In addition, Tunisia recalled that "for Puerto Lumbreras water projects are of vital importance to continue developing the primary sector of the municipality that is one of the main engines of the local economy, and represents more than 55% of the active population of the municipality ".
On the other hand, the mayor has requested cleaning actions in the channels of all the ravines that affect the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
Tunisia explained that "one more year we are asking the Confederation to carry out cleaning work in the ravines to prevent the accumulation of debris of various kinds, debris and bushes so that they do not impede the flow of water during periods of heavy rains" .
After the work meeting, the mayor and the president have agreed on the execution of clean-up actions by the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, except in those areas that run through the urban area, which will be taken over by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
