The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras begins to develop, as of this week, a pilot telecommuting project aimed at municipal employees.
Specifically, four workers participate in this test prior to the regulation of a new type of non-contact working day.
The objective of the initiative is to modernize the operating system of the local Administration and promote the use of new information technologies, while at the same time favoring the reconciliation of work and family life.
The assignment to this project has been voluntary for those people who perform positions that may be performed in the telework mode.
Among them are those related to planning, organization and preparation of projects or processing of documents.
"With this new modality of service provision, and thanks to new technologies, we will increase autonomy at work, we will adapt the administration to the current reality and will make it easier to conciliate", underlined Mª Ángeles Tunisia.
The workers participating in the project will develop their work in person in their usual position three days and the other two will do so from home.
The control of work activity when workers are not present in the usual job will be carried out in compliance with objectives, the achievement of results, and through the system "Manages".
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, explained that "with this measure we intend to promote conciliation, increase the quality of work and improve working conditions, which will result in greater productivity of workers."
The duration of the project is three months and may be extended for periods of the same duration until, in view of the conclusions drawn from its development, its completion is agreed.
Tunisia stressed that "this work system will generate important benefits for staff and citizens, thanks to this project we can reorganize work processes, obtaining better time management and improving the provision of services. flexible work adapted to your personal situation ".
Finally, the mayor concluded that "teleworking involves better managing work time, which is directly related to performance and job motivation."
