The Autonomous Community is executing a plan for the cleaning and clearing of ditches in the different regional roads that are located in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
This initiative aims to improve the visibility of roads, while favoring the conservation of roads and their longitudinal drainage during periods of heavy rains.
The operators carry out the cleaning tasks through mechanical means and, in those cases where there are barriers and it is difficult to clear the area with machinery, they use manual means.
With these means, grasses and sediments are being removed from the margins of the crossings, leaving the ditches in better condition.
Currently, the cleaning works are being developed on the RM-D16 highway, which connects Puerto Lumbreras with the hamlet of La Estación-Esparragal.
The person in charge of the area, José María Parra, has verified on the terrain the evolution of the works that will be prolonged during the next days.
The Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock, Water, and Pedanías, José María Parra, thanked the regional government for its support and improvement of roads and stressed that "with these actions we considerably increase road safety in all sections of regional roads which are very busy. "
