The new municipal ordinance regulating the parking card for people with disabilities has come into force in the municipality of Lumbrerense, which allows shortening the waiting time for citizens who request it.

It is a universal, personal and non-transferable card, which improves the quality of life of these people with disabilities by providing facilities for their mobility.

The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, explained that "with the final approval of this ordinance, the procedures are significantly streamlined and the deadline for obtaining them is reduced to only three days".

Tunisia pointed out that "the renewal period of the card is extended from three to ten years".

Possession of this parking card grants some rights to holders such as booking a parking space in a place close to the home or workplace;

the parking in the places enabled for people with disabilities, without any time limitation being established to the exercise of this right;

parking in limited-time parking areas for as long as necessary;

the stop or parking in the areas reserved for loading and unloading, in the terms established in the town hall, provided that there is no damage to pedestrians or traffic, for a time of stop or parking at least 75 percent higher than allowed with general character in said areas.

In the same way, the owners of the cards have access to roads or urban spaces with restricted circulation to residents, provided that the destination is inside that area;

and parking in places that are not allowed, as long as they do not cause damage to traffic.

For its part, the cardholder is obliged to place the parking card on the dashboard of the vehicle or attach it to the front windshield inside;

identify themselves when required by an agent of the authority, proving their identity with the DNI;

communicate any variation in the requirements required to grant the card;

and return the expired card at the time of renewal or term of its validity.

From the Department of Treasury, the data of the applicant will be collated with the assessment of the degree of disability and reduced mobility dictated by the multiprofessional teams of qualification and recognition of the degree of disability of the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS).
