The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has requested that the municipality be the seat of a phase of the Championship of Spain of Autonomous Selections.
For this, the mayor of the town, Mª Angeles Tunisia, and the councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, met with technical directors of the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia.
The mayor of the town has shown his interest in turning Puerto Lumbreras into "host municipality of one of the most important sports competitions of grassroots national level, which will bring the municipality to a large number of visitors among players, technicians and fans" .
It is worth noting that in this event the Catalan, Ceuta and Murcia national teams will measure their strength in the sub-16 (cadet) and sub-18 (youth) categories.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation will hold at the end of December the XVII National Championship of Autonomous Football Teams under-18 and the X National Championship of Autonomous Football Teams under-16.
The sporting event is scheduled to take place at the Municipal Football Field, an installation that will comply with all the requirements demanded by the Royal Spanish Football Federation, after the works of adaptation that the venue will experience in the coming days.
As announced a few months ago, the improvement actions will include the replacement of 8,050 square meters of artificial turf, renewal of the irrigation system and the perimeter pluvial grilles, as well as improvement actions in changing rooms and stands.
