The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Municipal Works and Services, is performing tasks of checking and cleaning scuppers that capture rainwater in order to prevent the collapse of the sewerage network.
Councilman Municipal Works and Services, Eliseo Sanchez, explained that "with this action we optimize the operation of the sewerage system, minimizing the chances of jams occur in times of heavy rains."
The personnel in charge of carrying out the work begins the process with the removal of grids and the cleaning of the elements that interrupt the exit of the water.
Next, the technicians extract the waste and check the correct functioning of the different scuppers distributed by the municipality.
Eliseo Sanchez stressed that "it is essential to remove the dirt that accumulates inside the scuppers, since it makes it harder to collect water on rainy days, and with the cleaning tasks we get the pipes to recover the correct hydraulic capacity of transport".
