On Friday, November 16 members of the management team, teachers, parents and students of the CEIP Purísima Concepción presented, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, the project 'The Gods of Olympus'.
A work in the form of a book made from the extra-reading activity of reading comprehension directed by the president of the AMPA of the center, Purificación Gázquez Rodríguez, during the last four years.
With an evident literary purpose, the initiative also has the intention of bringing young students to the roots of Greco-Roman culture, awakening their interest in Greek mythology.
"This way of working culture makes children internalize the concepts much better by involving them in a fun way," they point out from their coordination.
Thus, methodologically each child worked a god, elaborating a biographical text and illustrating it with the figure of his character.
The book is also accompanied by a prayer to the gods and other activities related to its reading.
In addition to this extracurricular activity, Purificación Gázquez Rodríguez is president of the AMPA of the CEIP Purísima Concepción of El Esparragal-La Estación.
She has a degree in Law from the University of Murcia, although her true passion has always been literature, a reason that leads her to develop this type of activity in an altruistic way.
Called affectionately 'mama-lad', he began this work by thinking that "the energy I used in my son, Jaime, could take advantage of it to teach other children, at the same time, the benefits of reading."
The students who participated in the project are the following: Olga Ayén Hernández, Rocío Calvo González, Sofía García Artero, Adriana García Torroglosa, María García Vidal, Ana Hernández Manzanares, Lola Hernández Manzanares, Máximo López Chumicheva, Rocío López Padilla, Jaime Martínez Gázquez, Andrea Martínez Navarro, Carmen Navarro Ruiz, Marisa Padilla Hernández, Jorge Romera Jiménez, Antonio David Sánchez Gea and Mauricio Sánchez Sánchez.
