The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has initiated the procedures for the execution of the "Eco Green" project, framed within the Empleaverde program, co-financed by the European Social Fund.
The total budget is 205,164.96 euros, with ESF aid of 164,131.97 euros on the Empleaverde CREA line.
The Lumbrerense Consistory is a beneficiary of this program with the collaboration of the neighboring municipality of Huércal-Overa.
In this way, Puerto Lumbreras will promote the training of unemployed people in the efficient and sustainable use of natural resources in the agricultural and tourism sector, providing participants with skills in new green skills demanded by the sector for the transition to a low-income economy. carbon.
The strategy pursued with this project has a double aspect: first, to act considering the fundamental problem of high soil erosion and the existing water deficit;
Second, train unemployed people, especially women and other priority groups.
In the 12 months of the project, 12 training activities are planned in Puerto Lumbreras and Huércal-Overa.
In the case of Puerto Lumbreras, the courses are related to 'Ecological cultivation of citrus fruits',' Drones for the eco-efficiency of soil and water ',' Sustainable landscaping in green spaces and natural areas for tourist and urban use ',' Fruit and vegetable sector: Eco-efficiency, circular economy and ICT ',' Precision agriculture and the Internet of things: water efficiency, energy and soil recovery 'and' Recovery and Custody of land in agricultural and tourist use '.
This project, which stimulates quality employment in the environmental sector and the eco-management of green spaces and natural areas for agricultural and tourist use, will allow the formation of a total of 302 people in Puerto Lumbreras and Huércal-Overa with a labor insertion assured of 10% of the participants, with 155 people benefiting from these training activities in the Lumbrerense municipality.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, announced that "we have already begun to manage the first procedures and very soon we will open the registration period so that all those people who are interested in training in aspects related to water management and they can do it. "
Tunisia has ensured that "one of our priority objectives is employment and, through this project, we are going to make unemployed people improve their chances of employment in economic sectors linked to the environment."
As explained by the mayor, "the content of the training actions is innovative, since they have never taken training in these new green skills adapted to the real needs of the territory and sector in this area."
To conclude, Tunisia has indicated that "with these training courses citizens will be made aware of the need to incorporate technology in the agricultural sector to improve the efficiency of natural resources, while optimizing the employability of students through of specialization in a new occupation with growing demand ".
Finally, it should be noted that this grant has the support of the Ministry for Ecological Transition (formerly Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment), the Biodiversity Foundation, the Empleaverde program and the European Social Fund, which has as its motto "El European Social Fund invests in your future ", and with the collaboration of the Hon.
