The locality of Puerto Lumbreras, as a municipality integrated in the Campoder Local Action Group, will be present at the 'Encounter for Rural Development' to be held from November 23 to 25 in Totana.
'Encuentro por el desarrollo' is a day that will be held in the four municipalities belonging to the Campoder Territory: Totana, Puerto Lumbreras, Mazarrón, and Fuente Álamo.
The first appointment will be in Totana and will aim to promote networking, making Campoder a reference in the promotion of sustainable rural development in their territories.
Other objectives of this meeting are to promote the transfer of experiences and the exchange of knowledge, thus promoting the launching of new initiatives, as well as promoting joint work and the establishment of synergies between the different projects.
"These days will also serve to promote the territory and its resources, as well as strengthen, enhance and consolidate the territorial identity and the feeling of belonging to the rural environment," said the Councilor for Employment and Commerce, Angela Morillas.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has achieved more than 1,400,000 euros in recent years in aid from the Leader initiative for the implementation of 25 public projects, with which it has contributed to economic and social development within the Campoder territorial scope.
All this, trying to achieve objectives such as job creation, boost the use of existing resources in the territory starting from an efficient and sustainable use of them and improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the territory with special attention to sectors of population at risk of social exclusion, women and youth.
Among the projects developed in the last three calls, the creation of lookouts in Medina Nogalte, the construction of a covered paddle court, the increase of leisure and free time services in La Cañada square, the creation of an ethnographic hall and a hydraulic infrastructure in the Casa del Cura or the adaptation of the accesses to the Nogalte Castle.
At the moment, within the Program of Rural Development of the Region of Murcia 2014-2020, a project of remodeling of the place of the Hermitage is being executed in the district lumbrerense of the Station-Esparragal.
In the coming months, two new projects will be launched, subsidized by Campoder: the installation of a 24-hour video surveillance system in the Medina Nogalte tourist complex, and the implementation of a campaign to promote rural-scientific tourism.
The Councilor for Employment and Commerce, Ángela Morillas, stressed that "Puerto Lumbreras is the municipality that has executed the most projects within the Campoder Local Action Group".
