Around 350 heads of cattle come together during this weekend at the Equine Livestock Fair of Puerto Lumbreras.
The event takes place during the days 1 and 2 of December, in uninterrupted hours from 08:00 to 20:00 hours.
The fair has a tradition of more than 80 years and is developed with a high participation of farmers from different parts of the Region of Murcia and other places in the national territory.
Today at 08.00 in the morning the first cattle heads began to enter the site, but it was after 12.00 when the fair registered a greater number of visitors.
The event is restricted to equine cattle, so that visitors have been able to carry out the sale of horses, mares, foals, donkeys, ponies and the like.
All breeders participating in the fair have previously submitted the corresponding health documentation to their animals.
Within the fairgrounds there are also exhibitions of livestock material such as saddles or esparto works and other utensils related to the world of the horse.
In addition to this, there are various equipment positions linked to equine gear, such as saddlebags, holsters, saddles, saddles, among other pieces.
The councilor of Agriculture and Livestock, José María Parra, has indicated that "as a sample of support to the primary sector and as an incentive measure, we have eliminated fees so that farmers who participate in the fair do not have to pay for vehicle access of transport of live animals, nor by the entrance of heads of cattle to the market ".
For the proper functioning of the fair has been the presence of members of the Civil Protection Service and Emergency and Local Police officers.
