On November 27, the PSOE of Puerto Lumbreras filed a motion in the municipal plenary session, demanding that the Ordinance that regulates the protection of pets since 2003 is adapted to the law 6/2017 of November 8, 2017.

The initiative, necessary for the update on rights and obligations that promote the welfare of animals, not only was not supported but also, the Popular Party spokeswoman, Dolores Arenas, starred in a shameful show despising the work of José Manuel Miravete , mayor and representative spokesman of the Socialist Party.

Arenas, demonstrating its absolute ignorance on the subject raised, came to demand in the plenary that that point of the agenda be annulled.

On this aspect, it should be noted that the fourth transitory provision of the regional law provides that "Local entities shall have a period of one year to develop or adapt their Ordinances to the provisions of this law, from its entry into force."

Socialists do work, interpreting laws and listening to the needs of our municipality.

According to the socialist secretary general, María Rosa García "it is inadmissible that the Popular Party ignore the existence of this law and / or the order of priority of the laws, according to which the municipal ordinance of 2003 can never be above a law 2017, because the simple time lag shows that society has evolved in this area and, much less, is updated, as insisted the mayor Loli Arenas.Los Lumbrerenses socialists are working to hear the demands of different groups and associations , among which are the animalists, which are very numerous, in this sense, we express the will and the commitment to know their needs and

Therefore, we consider unacceptable and irresponsible the contempt of the Popular Party towards our commitment to citizenship and, specifically, for animal welfare.

For all this, from PSOE Puerto Lumbreras we demand an update of the regulations so that they are clear issues such as the prohibition of circuses, the collection of abandoned animals, shows with wild animals, among many other aspects and, of course, we put back It manifested the great incompetence of the entire government team and its intolerable ignorance of the norm.
