The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is carrying out improvement works in the potable water supply network in Severo Ochoa Street and Puerto Rico.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, the Councilor for Works, Urbanism and Municipal Services, Eliseo Sánchez, accompanied by a technician, checked the status of the work.
The objective of this action is the renewal of the water distribution that runs between both streets and the improvement of existing facilities.
In this way, the works include trenching, signaling, placement of pipes and, later, replacement of the paving.
In this sense, 24 new connections and a new layout of a general network of 63 millimeters in diameter and 302 linear meters will be made.
In addition, three wells will be installed for the installation of boiler works and junctions, at the same time that the affected sidewalks and streets will be replaced.
Councilman Works, Eliseo Sanchez, stressed that "it is a necessary work to improve the state of the network, optimize driving and avoid possible leaks."
Sanchez says that "in this way we guarantee the correct supply of water and we anticipate the possible collapse that could have occurred with the old driving".
The investment of this project amounts to 35,921.67 euros, financed entirely by the City of Puerto Lumbreras through the canon of the supply and sanitation service concession for 2016.
"This type of investment is essential to improve the performance of lumbrerenses, trying to avoid breakdowns that generate inconvenience to neighbors, and to preserve water as a natural resource," said Eliseo Sánchez.
These works are complemented by other actions previously carried out in streets such as Pintor José María Párraga, Caracas or Pintor José Pérez with an investment of more than 80,000 euros.
