The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has requested five projects from the Association for Rural Development 'Campoder', within the Rural Development Program of the Region of Murcia 2014-2020, for projects not programmed in the Participatory Rural Development Strategies.
The Lumbrerense Consistory will benefit from subsidies for an amount greater than 200,000 euros.
With this investment, the City Council intends, among other actions, to modernize and incorporate new computer equipment into the new technology room of the La Estación-Esparragal Library with the aim of contributing to the reduction of the digital divide in rural districts.
"With this measure we promote connectivity and we continue to bet on guaranteeing equal opportunities for all Lumbrerenses regardless of their place of residence."
To contribute to the promotion of culture, the creation of a room for musical training and popular traditions has been planned in the Multiusos Rural Center facilities, as well as the conditioning and soundproofing of this center located in La Estación-Esparragal.
On the other hand, the improvement of the working women's park is planned.
The conditioning project includes actions of accessibility, repair of damages, installation of children's games, signage, creation of a new area of ​​biosaludables games and placement of a pergola to create more shaded areas.
One of the most outstanding developments of this park will be the installation of a solar charger for mobile phones.
Citizens can recharge their mobile device or tablet for free from this autonomous device, which will have a 30w solar panel and a 24-hour autonomy for the recharge of four devices.
The conversion of the facilities of the former Local Development Center into a Center for the care of people with mental illness would be another of the actions to be implemented with the collaboration of Campoder.
The last initiative will be the improvement of information and updating of signage elements in the districts.
More than 1,400,000 euros in Leader grants
The City Council of PuertoLumbreras has achieved in recent years more than 1,400,000 euros in aid from the Leader initiative for the implementation of 25 public projects, with which it has contributed to economic and social development within the Campoder territorial scope.
All this, trying to achieve objectives such as job creation, boost the use of existing resources in the territory starting from an efficient and sustainable use of them and improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the territory with special attention to sectors of population at risk of social exclusion, women and youth.
Among the projects developed in the last three calls are the creation of lookouts in Medina Nogalte, the construction of a covered paddle tennis court, the increase of leisure and free time services in La Cañada square, the creation of an ethnographic hall and a hydraulic infrastructure in the Casa del Cura or the adaptation of the accesses to the Nogalte Castle.
Currently, within the Rural Development Program of the Region of Murcia 2014-2020, is running a project related to tourism promotion through the edition and printing of brochures on tourism resources of the municipality.
