The Autonomous Community, through the Sanitation and Purification Entity (ESAMUR), will install photovoltaic panels in the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Puerto Lumbreras with the purpose of reducing energy consumption and the carbon footprint.
The regional government will invest approximately 100,000 euros in this project, which is expected to save electricity by 28%.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, stressed that "with the implementation of this action we demonstrate our commitment to the environment and sustainability, since with the installation of plates will reduce energy consumption and emissions of CO2 ".
With the installation and commissioning of 184 270wp photovoltaic modules for self-consumption in the WWTP of Puerto Lumbreras, the aim is to achieve a photovoltaic generation power of 49.68 kWp, which will help meet the energy consumption needs of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Sewage water.
For this, it will also be necessary to install inverters in the solar station, power lines, a renewable energy generation meter and a solar irradiation probe.
With all this, a reduction of the energy consumption of the plant from 287,673 kWh per year to 206,720 kWh will be achieved, reducing emissions of polluting gases by 42,18 TCO2 per year and an economic saving, according to current rates, of 5,430.66 euros
